The Carrollton City Council is moving forward to establish a downtown TIF district, voting on a handful of resolutions necessary for district creation. The group plans to roll out in late September proposed economic strategies based on discussions with business owners and analysis from design firm Vandewalle & Associates Inc.

Former Gehl site now proposed for hotel and office in West Bend

The City of West Bend has entered into an agreement with RafRad LLC and Kinseth Hospitality with the intention of constructing a hotel and office building on the former Gehl site in the downtown. Working in partnership with Washington County Site Development Committee (SRC) the City of West Bend completed a hotel study specifically dedicated to the former Gehl site. City staff approached SRC and identified the site as a high priority redevelopment site.

The Destination District plan (spearheaded by the Committee with consultant Vandewalle & Associates) is to integrate the Alliant Energy Center campus with the surrounding area to provide visitors and residents with a variety of recreation, dining and entertainment options. A multi-family development on this site was identified as one of the catalytic projects aimed at spurring downtown development according to of the City's  Downtown Redevelopment Plan, which was endorsed by both the Plan Commission and Common Council.
