The Village of East Dundee, Illinois is proposing the creation of a new “culinary district” for its downtown. The community seeks to recruit entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial area culinary school graduates to open up new restaurants and specialty food stores in the District. On Dec. 10, 2012, East Dundee trustees gave preliminary approval to embark on a public/private effort aimed at the rebirth and revitalization of the downtown. Amtrak Blackhawk Rail Stop for Freeport, Illinois

Freeport, Illinois will be one of the stops on the Blackhawk Amtrak line, which will connect Chicago to Dubuque and is slated to return to passenger service in 2014. The City of Freeport aims to spur a larger economic impact, with the project by making it a regional multimodal hub that integrates rail, local transit, regional bus and bike infrastructure.
