Colleen Johnson is an associate planner in the redevelopment planning division of Vandewalle & Associates, providing redevelopment planning and implementation services to communities throughout the Midwest. Colleen’s primary service areas include redevelopment implementation project management, research and analysis, plan preparation, community outreach, and grant writing. Colleen’s interests and experience lie in brownfields redevelopment, sustainable economic development, community involvement, and attentive and professional project management.
In her time at Vandewalle & Associates, Colleen has contributed to a diverse group of projects with a focus on downtown, riverfront, and brownfields redevelopment planning and implementation. Colleen has worked on Illinois brownfields projects in Freeport, Canton, Rockford, Belvidere, Moline, Ottawa, and Robbins. Additionally, Colleen has contributed to redevelopment plans for Belvidere, Illinois; Olivette, Missouri; and Beloit, Wisconsin. Currently, Colleen is managing downtown redevelopment implementation in Waterloo, Iowa, and Moline and Freeport, Illinois.
Prior to joining Vandewalle & Associates, Colleen attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she completed her Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning with a focus in Land Use Planning. Colleen has also gained experience in the public sector where she developed skills in research, analysis, and communication focused on urban planning, community development, and sustainable development.
