Senior Associate / Economic Development & Development Facilitation

Marta Purdy, a Senior Associate, has a unique range of experience working with private, non-profit, and public sector clients on economic development, business plan concepting, funding procurement, corporate client specialty projects, and renewable energy initiatives. To such venues, Marta brings her energies and skills in project management, complex public-private partnering, charette facilitation, and redevelopment implementation.

Marta has worked extensively on downtown redevelopment projects in Waterloo, IA and Moline, IL. On a day-to-day basis, she manages complex partnerships in catalytic projects, such as the TechWorks Campus, a downtown redevelopment project that includes a 130-room green hotel, corporate training space, and a manufacturing/bioproduct business incubator. Most recently, she worked on a business plan for a statewide advanced manufacturing applied research center in Iowa. Within smaller communities such as E. Dundee, IL, Port Edwards, WI, Shawano, WI, Marta provides project-specific assistance in business/organizational strategy, food systems implementation, building reuse, and redevelopment project feasibility.

Marta specializes in project management and cross-pollination of ideas with Vandewalle & Associates’ design and communications teams on such projects as the John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum and the Waterloo Public Market Co-op marketing and branding initiative.

In this position, she conducted community site plan reviews for river-edge development projects, such as the Chicago Spire, published an environmental action plan for Chicago River improvements, and lead urban canoe trips.
