The Current in Monona begins final phase

MONONA, WISC. (with excerpts from madison.com) – Galway Construction is beginning construction on the final phase of The Current at Yahara Commons, a riverfront redevelopment project on the Yahara River in Monona which was master-planned by Vandewalle & Associates. This latest phase will include a five-story building with 145 apartments, a terrace, and a pool, along with two levels of underground parking shared between residential and the City for park access. Once completed, residential units will enjoy views of downtown or riverfront, and easy access to the adjacent retail and new riverfront park designed by Vandewalle & Associates. Check out the madison.com article and renerings of the final phase of The Current 2.

Earlier phases included a five-story, mixed-use building with 96 apartments and 30,000 square feet of commercial space with offices, Buck and Honey’s bar and restaurant, Forage Kitchen, True Coffee and The Tasting Room, along with the concession/ice cream shop called “Below Deck” off the city-owned Grand Crossing Park. The second phase — the Avid Hotel, a 92-room, mid-scale, limited-service hotel by Intercontinental Hotel Group and Kinseth Hospitality with 92 surface parking spaces — opened late last year.
