City of Jefferson awarded DNR Recreational Boating Facilities Grant

CITY OF JEFFERSON, WI: The City of Jefferson has been awarded a DNR Recreational Boating Facilities Grant. The Grant will fund the construction of a two-lane boat ramp, transient docking pier system, and boat launch parking facilities, as part of a proposed new park called Rock River Landing at the former Jefferson County Highway site. The site is just north of downtown Jefferson and is located on the Rock River National Water Trail.

These planned boat facilities are part of a larger park design for which City and County have a pending Knowles Nelson Stewardship grant application. The project is part of the implementation of the Jefferson Downtown Plan and Economic Recovery Plan.

The rest of the park will encompass 5.7 acres and include restroom facilities, a trailhead, bike/ped paths, and a kayak launch. The concept for the site also includes 12.8 acres for private development.
