The city of Racine plans to pursue a $1 million grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. to clean up asbestos and lead from former industrial buildings in the Machinery Row development project site near downtown Racine. The work would be done in phases on what would be the biggest redevelopment project in the city’s history. The total cost of the Machinery Row project is expected to be $65 million.
